American Girls Historical Reading club
A mother - daughter reading club for girls at least 7 years old and up. Learn about history through games, crafts, and snacks. Registration is required and may be completed at the front desk by the Thursday before the club meeting which is held on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.
Theme: Winter Celebrations With the American Girls
Our Winter Schedule:
December 9th Josefina 1824 - Las Posadas is the winter celebration Josefina observed with her family and we will celebrate with fruit empanaditas & Mexican style hot cocoa! Our craft will be an felt Ramillete ornament along with games and modern Christmas treats:)
January 13th Kirsten 1854-We will learn about the popular Swedish holiday St. Lucia Day and celebrate with sweet buns and cocoa. Our craft will be a clip on candle ornament and we will play frontier games like Kirsten and her cousins.
February 10th Addy 1864- We will celebrate Addy's first Christmas in the freedom of Philadelphia with
sweet potato pie and lemonade. Our craft will be a beautiful Christmas plaid ribbon & bell ornament. We finish out with games and maybe a shadow puppet show like Addy saw!
FYI- Crafts or snacks may change due to availability or budget.
FYI for 2023- If club is full, I call in order according to the wait list. At end of day, the Friday before club the list is set & no more wait list calls will be made. There are no drop-ins due the fact that the list closed the day before. We have not had success calling the morning of, so that has been suspended.
Thank you for your interest & if the club gets as many as 6 on the wait list we will consider adding a second session:)
