American Girls Historical Reading Club

A mother - daughter reading club for girls at least 7 years old and up. Learn about history through games, crafts, and snacks. Registration is required and may be completed at the front desk by the Thursday before the club meeting which is held on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.


Theme: Winter Celebrations With the American Girls


Our Summer Schedule:


June 8th Nanea 1941 & Molly 1944 - We are celebrating a Hawaiian & a World War II Christmas. We will snack on coconut cake & cinnamon rolls with mango punch. Our crafts are a Hawaiian flower ornament & a metal star tree topper. We will play limbo and other popular children's games.


July 13th Mary Ellen 1954 & Melody 1964-We will learn about traditional Christmases in the 50's & 60's. We will snack on oranges & coffee cake. We will make an jingle bell ornament as well as an vintage sequin ornament. and if time permits we will play games too!


August 10th Julie 1974, Courtney 1986, and Nicki & Isabel 1999- We will explore how Christmas evolves through the 70's, 80's, and Christmas & Hanukkah in the 90's. We will also talk a little about Chinese New Year in the 1970's as another Winter Celebration celebrated by Julie's friend Ivy. Our snack will be chocolate fondue & Christmas cookies with Capri SUN. We will craft a God's Eye ornament & a traditional pickle ornament. Games from the 70's, 80's, and 90's will finish out the meeting as well as Christmas with the American Girls!
